  14. Sadly I have, it was my first long term relationship as a teenager. He was three or four years older than me and started messing with drugs.
The bad thing is that I noticed it little by little but I was so brain washed thinking I deserved everything being done to me, that this was normal and ok that it was only until I almost died at the hands of it that got me away.
They say that getting out is easy but they are wrong because you are never truly free of those horror's, I am still constantly haunted by nightmares of the past.
Thankfully I was blessed with a strong partner who understands when he can't touch me or make sudden moves until I come back to the present, who taught me to love myself for me and to be a strong woman.

  16. Unfortunately, my first husband was an abuser. I credit God and my family for getting me away. Had I not been pregnant, I don't think I would have left him so I am always thankful of my daughter. What most people don't realize is how subtle it starts and they convince you that it is in your head and you caused it and that it will never happen again. I would love to read this book. I hit the lottery with my second marriage and got a man who is not only wonderful but adopted my 4yo from the first marriage who turned out to have autism. He loves her like his own. ;)
Thanks for the giveaway and for writing what I am sure will be a touching and great book.

  18. Somehow my group of misfit friends in high school seemed to be more touched than most with abuse. My best friend was physically and emotionally abused by her mom, two of my friends had been sexually abused at one point, and I was verbally and emotionally abused by my father. Luckily we all seemed to have escaped it in our adulthood.
